Sightseeing Suggested: Our guests enjoyed the Al Capone bus tour and of course Navy Pier and Millennium Park - the Museums in Chicago are awesome and just need to come back to visit again.

Getting Around

Chicago has a vast public transportation system, many highways and surrounding airports to get you around to wherever you need to go!

Public Transportation

Chicago operates the second largest public transportation system in America (second only to New York's system). The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) runs buses and rapid transit cars (including the elevated trains) throughout Chicago and 40 of its surrounding suburbs. Each day an average 1.6 million people use the CTA system.

The CTA operates 2,000 buses and nearly 1,200 rapid transit cars, which run 24 hours a day. In the city, the elevated trains are known as the "Chicago L" or to Chicagoans as simply the "El."
For additional public transportation options while in your Chicago temporary housing, you can ride the Metra commuter rail in from Chicago's outer suburbs. With over 200 train stations, you can ride Metra's Electric District Main Line from Chicago's far south suburbs to the city's lakefront attractions.   • Bishop Ford Expressway: This portion of I-94 south of Chicago runs from to the I-57 split south until it leaves the state.
  • Chicago Skyway: This toll road connects I-90 when it breaks off of the Dan Ryan Expressway with the Indiana Toll Road.
  • I-57: This highway is not named, but serves as a de-facto bypass route around the Stevenson Expressway for travelers who are headed to Chicago.

A repeat client of IHS who we call a “reverse snowbird” (someone who lives in Florida year round but goes back North during the summer to get away from the heat) asked us to do a search for a two bedroom apartment in the loop.  They liked using IHS as our search service in the past has brought them a number of options from companies who compete for their business and with just one request.  Immediately, they started to recieve offers and settled on a location with a fabulous view of the Lake.
